The recent sinkhole in Assumption Parish is a blow to the local community and those with camps and houses in the area. Many remember the salt dome cave-in from 1980, in the vicinity of Avery Island, that drained Lake Peigneur. Much like the current disaster, that was caused by mining activity gone wrong.
If you or anyone you know is affected by this loss, feel free to contact our office to discuss your claims. It is important to document your loss – which includes both your time and inconvenience, as well as any damage you may have to property. Fortunately, this has not resulted in any loss of life…yet; however, it appears that this, like the environmental tragedy in the 80’s, was completely avoidable.
